I mainly operate from my home QTH in Donegal Town using a Yaesu FT2000 and 3 element MA5B beam..

Donegal Town is in the North West corner of EI - Ireland. It is only a few miles from GI - Northern Ireland. We are situated beside Donegal Bay which flows into the Atlantic Ocean. If you took a boat from Donegal Town and headed due west your next stop would be Newfoundland in Canada!

Occasionally I take to the roads and operate mobile from my car. I have a FT-857D in the car.

While operating static mobile I can usually be found on top of the nearby Bluestack Mountains (670m) or the nearby Sliabh Liag (601m) which is one of the highest sea cliffs in Europe.

The Bluestack mountain of Croagh Eoin is my favourite as there is a road leading to the top (550 metres) and there is a clear view for 360 degrees all around.

My home QTH is only 1km from the Atlantic Ocean to the West but is surrounded by mountains on all other sides. These mountains range in size from 400-700 metres. So mobile operation is usually a lot better for me to ensure I get my signal out over the hills!

The nearest large towns are Letterkenny to the North and Sligo to the South. The capital city of Dublin is 250 km to the South East.
